need info

hello gentelmen, Im new to this board so I have a few questions that perhaps someone can answer.

(1) I have installed both sbcs and bbcs in the older model 240/260 Zs but has anyone installed a BBC or SBC in a more modern 300z car yet?

(2)what frame strengthing measures seem to work best?

(3) who has the best deal on bolt in seats?

(4) what headers (comercial) fit the bbc engines, (I made my own last couple of times)

thanks for the welcome guys, and no sorry I don,t even have pictures of my own vettes but as I am sure you are aware there are kits out there with motor mounts,radiators, trans mounts,ETC. so its not a big deal to do this swap and the results are fantastic if you take the time to do quality work.BTW are any of you located in the west palm beach/ loxahatchee fla area? Hi grumpy It,s good to see you here. I go by chevsun on other boards also. You have helped me a lot with information concerning the 377 I am building for my 240 and I appreciate it. I run a 72 vette also. Hope to see you post often as a lot of people here including me can use your expertise. I just wanted to greet you. Steve

Glad you joined us grumpy!

 

There have been a few tha have done the early Z31 (84-89) 300ZX SBC conversion, on is "Dr. Pete" Bomgard (SP?) that's posted here before - search and it should come up.

"scarp" on this site has bought a later model Z32 300ZX with plans for doing a SBC V8. I think it's been done elsewhere as well.

 

Frame strengthening - I put in custom subframe connectors - look at "structural mods" on my site. Others have done this and a few are working on tube frame chassis. Many here do 6 and 8 pt cages, if not more (Mike Kelly is at something like 22 pts, last count.) Of course, strut tower braces front and rear are a benefit.

 

Miata seats are fairly cheap and fit well in the old Z's. Sparco has some race seats that fit and aren't obscene in price.
