Guest mck2
I have not seen that gear. You say adjustment ranges from -12 to +9 in 3 degree increments. Put it beside the std gear. Mine is stamped 3,2,1 CLOCKWISE on the outer ring and the inner ring. I have been told 1 is 0, 2 is +4, 3 is +8. I imagine yours is sequenced the same, so looking at the front of the gear you see 4,3,2,1,... going CLOCKWISE ? If so 1 is 0, 4 is +9, Going to the right is -3, -6, -9, -12. ONLY IF you see 4,3,2,1,...CLOCKWISE . If you see A B C D 1 2 3 4 CLOCKWISE then D is 0, A is +9, and 4 is -12. HTH
Guest Tom Scala
I just bought one of these used and the seller keeps ignoring my requests to decifer the markings on it. It has 8 positions for adjustment ranging from -12 to +9 crank degrees adjustment in 3 degree increments. There is an A B C D 1 2 3 4 stamped on the gear but I have no idea what is what. Anyone use one of these and have the corresponding advance & retard figures for these markings?
TimZ
The first guess was right - 1 = +3deg 2 = +6deg 3 = +9deg A = -3deg B = -6deg C = -9deg D = -12deg
Lockjaw
Yeah, what he says. The numbers are positive the letters negative, 0 is straight up, and it is 3 degree's a hole.

Lockjaw
If it only had a notch for each hole, it would have been better.
