Camden8909
I was wondering if anyone has ever put a 5.9 cummins motor in a Datsun 240z? I know they are way heavier and the transmission would need to be fit but has anyone ever done this?
mrw
Depending on the year, those engines weigh between 950 and 1200 lbs without the tranny, almost half the weight of a 240. I have never heard of anyone doing it.
logr
If you want a diesel, how about a 4BTA Cummins? I put one in my Clark 664 skidder to replace a screaming jimmy and have loved it ever since. I would bet it is pretty heavy too though. Love my SR personally speeking. 30+mpg all the time and dyno'd 306whp.(happy dyno)
Ryan Merrill
Torque would rip everything part. That motor is very tall and heavy. BUt if thats your thing go for it.

tkensiski
wouldn't fit vertically (chop the hood off?)... Length wise you would have to redo the whole trans channel... Its a big engine. Ive got one in my Dodge Ram 2500 if you would like me to take some measurements. And like someone else said these engines are about 1100 lbs dry... They take 3 gallons of oil and quite a bit of coolant. That being said you could probably run less coolant due to the weight of vehicle basically being the engine and the fact that you are not towing. I run about 190F when not towing no matter what im doing. When towing ill get to around 220F and thats with 24 quarts of coolant.
