goob_os101
Hello,my name is Goob (my birth name Jeremy) and I snagged this from the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA in October.1972 Datsun 240ZL28 motor with moderate cam,Eibach springsBoge shockFront and rear sway bars6-1 headers4 speed transAir damElectronic ignition. It has been sitting for 3 years so I have some work to do. This is my first restoration/project car so I hope to learn alot and get this Z back on the road. There are a bunch unkowns with this car:Milage on the motorWhat camsHow the electronic ignition was doneWill she start/runbut this is what makes it fun...right? Well, I had a lovely Saturday with this old gal...I replaced the battery, drained the old gas, filled her up with new gas, and got the stuck drum off. With a little bit of starter fluid and a few turns of the key she started up...then got on fire! Luckily I was prepared and had an extinguisher on hand. No harm was down. The vent tube on the front carb is pissing out fuel when she turns over. The float is either stuck or leaking. Hope to find out soon...she sounded sooooo good. I have no idea what cam is installed but I liked how it sounded.A few problem I noticed is the horn sticks and there is an after market horn installed in under the hood. The OEM radio does not turn on, probally becasue the PO had an aftermarket stereo system and there are wires everywhere.

NewZed
It does sound pretty good. Don't overlook the low oil pressure these engines tend to get at low RPM. Running a low idle speed to get the lopey cam sound could be bad for the cam itself. The aftermarket cams seem to have issues often.
