Guest Anonymous
I have a '79 280ZX 2+2 and need to adjust the timing. How much can I adjust it manually or can I at all without going through the ECU? I have heard stories of the ECU trying to correct timing changes, but have never actually tried it. what would be a good setting for my car? I have the stock engine, 5 speed manual tranny, new air filter (cold air) and new straight through exaust (no cat, high flow muffler) I would appreciate any and all helpful comments on this matter, especially if you know what you are doing. I will be racing tonight, and that is the primary reason for wanting the change. Thank you!

Guest Anonymous
Not to worry, the timing is not computer controled and is adjusted manually.Just loosen the 10mm bolt at the base of the distributor between the distributor and the fan,so be careful. The timing should be set at about 10 degrees advance.
