Guest Anonymous
Well, I messed up again, this time it was all me. I was cleaning out the 280z today, I decided to wash the top of the hood and the engine bay. Was running like a top before I took it in and washed it, washed the engine bay, dried everything up and started it up to go home, idled smoothly but I went to pull out of the lot and it won't rev passed 3000 rpm. It's like it's bouncing off of some sort of rev limiter. I checked the distributor and plugs, they are fine and dry. I have no idea what it is, unless it's something that's messed up with the AFM. Should I let it dry out over night before jumping to any conclusions? Have you guys ever heard of this happening? Chris
Guest Anonymous
Let it dry. .probably moisture under the disribitor cap. Careful use of a hair dryer with the cap off the disribitor may help the Arizona climate
David K
Chris, that would be moisture in your Throttle Positioning Sensor. Is the black box on the side of the throttle body. Unplug that and see how she revs. If it is, just let it dry, or dry it yourself.
Guest Anonymous
Yeah, I finally cleared my head after being pissed and realized it was the TPS. I'll just go smash my face with a hammer now. Still runs like a top, by the way. Thanks. Chris
Len
Chris I think all of us went crazy when that TPS gets wet! I know I went through that!
