Should this Z be saved

I am looking for someone who is more knowledgeable " and that is probably every Z HEAD out there " than I am who lives in the Sacramento valley area to give me their opinion on a 260z parts car that is in my possession.

The main reason I bought this car was for the spare tire well. But as my son and I have been stripping it down I've noticed that there is not a lot of rust in the usual places that are common for these cars. So before I start cutting into it ( my temporary tire well setup can do for now ) I'd like to get someone's opinion.

It doesn't have to happen tonight but would share some pics through email and if that person is close by Stockton might have time to stop by and school me. ...lol.

Thanks Daniel

Pics are worth a thousand words. From the sounds of it though, yes. They're not making any more of them. Once it's gone, it's gone forever, and there's no replacing it, and they're already getting harder to find.

Why is this in the parts wanted section?

Post pictures, I am over 4 hr. away. California is a big place, they need a 51 state starting north of Sacramento. Anyway, My friend deals only in Z cars. I have seen a lot come and go and have a good idea of what can be salvaged while not wrapping up to much money or time. In the past 260z have not been as desirable when it comes to collecting due to massive numbers being produced by that time. So, as time keeps going by you keep seeing less and less first generation Z cars. So, it could never be as valuable as a first year 240z in the same condition, however, the value keeps going up on these cars. If it is a minimal rust car, YES it is worth saving. Even if you just pass it on to someone else. You can get a spare tire well elsewhere. Or, if your car is in that bad of shape that it needs a spare tire well, swap bodies. Yes, it is a big job but you will have a better car and all 40+ year old cars need a complete going through.
