Mike C
Actually, 86 was the first year for the one piece rear main. 87 for the centerbolt valve covers. 85 and earlier flexplates work on 85 and earlier engines. 86 and later need the new flexplate. Guest Anonymous
Missed it by -> <- that much.... Thanks for clarifying that, I didn't know it was '86. Regards, Lone
RPMS
Here's a quickie: Will the flexplate from a 1984 305 (out of a Camaro) work with my rebuilt 1996 (or so) 350? (Is this one of those things that everyone knows but me???)
Guest Anonymous
Shhhh, everyone act like you don't know either... Oh, I said that publicly..doh... Actually, the bolt pattern is slightly different (not sure on balancing that might be different too)between the old chevy crank (up to 87) and the new one with one piece rear main seal (after 87). I'd just look for a late model flex plate, can't be super expensive at a wrecking yard I wouldn't think. Good luck with it.
