z-ya
I'm getting ready to send out my F54 block for hot tanking and honing (abolutely no ridge to ream). I've read that before boring you should install and torque the main caps. Do I need to do it if the blcok is just being honed? Thanks, Pete
Mike C
Seems advisable, and I think most machinists due whether or not they are going to hone with a cylinder head torque plate as well. Hopefully your shop can do both. Otherwise, may just look into a dingle-berry hone and use your drill.
katman
We always use a torque plate with a new head gasket, install the main caps, and hone it at temperature for race engines. For a street car I'd at least want a torque plate and main caps installed.
