Guest 240zxt
Me and my dad have been restoring a 240Z for about a year now, and we,ve finaly gotten to the point of pulling the engine. Were planing on swaping a 280ZXT engine for the old L24. Does anyone have any info on the different heads that can be used for this? Is there any manual or something like that (similar to JTR) for the L28? Any good setups for around six or seven grand? Thanks for any info. Cody 82 ZXT
For 6 or so grand you should have no proublem with producing a fast and relieable 240 turbo. What most people do is buy a wrecked ZXT and swap everything over and get it running and then upgrade from there. You can buy wrecked turbos from many sources (I bought one from a the newsapaper on time for 600.0)and the price really varies on the area of the country your in. Ofcourse if your planning on spending that much you could go with a stand alone engine management and some other nice and new parts that will work well and look good. I don't know of any manuel on how to do this but, as I understand it you just swap the entire ECCS over to the 240 for the engine controls. The engine will bolt in and shouldn't be any proublem. If you have the rack and pinion steering its that much easier. It's not that hard but, does take some time to do right. By the way you'll need a 75 fuel take or make a new feed line for the fuel injection.
fl327
man if i had 6k to throw into a turbo setup heres my plan of action. donor car that runs for cheap as possible. throw the whole mess into a early z car, without even taking the valve cover off, just make sure its driving ok by getting donor to run right first. get it to run right in the swapped car. fmic, bov, 3" exhaust, rrpr, big fuel pump throttle body, better dp. tuning, tuning, and tuning depending on your goals, you either stop here or go further, the mods above with a properly setup stock motor with the boost doubled and a little bit more from stock can net you 250+ - and its beautiful
