Autometer Tachometer to build into original tachometer housing

I like to keep consistent looking interior.

 

My goal is to upgrade tachometer with original dash gauges looking.

From original tachometer, dissemble everything.

Drill the plastic lens cover.

Build LED light.

LED light installed.

Drill the face plate for signal indicators.

Put green LED.

Trim the housing.

Assemble.

Nice work! So you ended up keeping the stock lens over it? Hard to tell from the pic.

 

I tried to make it work with the plastic lens.. but it was 1 am in the morning before a race day, with my dash all torn apart. Mine ended up flying across the garage somewhere, been running it without any lens or glass over it for a while now. Works great as long as I don't reach in and touch the needle :)
