HybridHydra
I am gathering knowledge for when I finally want to do a RB swap to my 280z. If I were to use an RB26 engine I would have to use an RB25 transmission, then is that it ? Will the shifter be in the same spot as a normal L28 with 4 speed? But I read somewhere that the RB30 Block is significantly stronger than the RB26 block, so if I mated an RB26 head to an RB30 block, would the RB25 tranny be ok? Or will an RB30 Block and tranny be ok for the 280z?
docaam
As far as I know RB30 wont move the tranny that much. I had installed RB20 gearbox installed was in ok place cant compare with stock 4 speed as car came without stock engine and gear.
kiwi303
All RB blocks fit all RB trannies. they use the same bolt pattern for the bellhousing, and also interchange with the RD series (Diesel) engines. The only thing you need to watch for it shifter position, not whether they fit the block.
Z-Monster
The answer is yes. The RB26 head will fit the RB30 block and all RB gearboxes will mate up to all RB blocks. The gear selector will fall in the correct hole for the HGS130 chassis but I am not sure about the S30 chassis.
