More and still more LT1 Questions

What can I do for pulley routing on the LT1 when I take off the power steering and AC pumps. All I will have is the crank Pulley diving the alternator. So what belt and routing system without spending a ton of $$$.

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks for the info Danno!

Next question (or actually a recommendation):

What to do with the harness?

Painless has a harness for $600 (ouch) malebitchslap.gif (I think we need a graemlin showing it taking it up the _ _ _)!!

or can get my existing factory harness 'rewired' to be stand alone for $395.

Is there anyway that I can rewire the harness myself, it can't be that hard, although probable time consuming! Grumpy posted a link to a site (thanks a bunch for all the links Grumpy) that shows how to DIY a harness, but it only applies to pre-LT1 FI engines. cry2.gif .

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks,

Tim

Tim, please drop me an e-mail before you go and spend insane amounts of money needlesly on LT1 stuff. i've been working on these problems for a while now and i've got a couple good ways around lot of them. you can use any stock LT1 engine wiring harness with that motor. dont listen to the guys at painless. aside from being jerks about their stuff, they really just want you to buy their burnt chips and other useless junk. a stock harness for about 125-150 off of e-bay will do the job nicely. if you've got a 94 or few 95 pcms, i can burn it for you to eliminate VATS or any of those other silly factory settings. pullies you might have a problem with eliminating the PS, but without an aftermarket setup, or an AC delete bracket, the ac wont fit JTR style. good luck, and drop me a line. my post name @hotmail.com

Tim,

You will definitely have to do some rewiring on the LT1 engine harness. I’m still working on structural modifications and the brakes, but this summer I plan on installing the engine and driveline. Over the past couple of years I have amassed a lot of information on the LT1 engine and T56 tranny. An expert on both I’m not, but I feel very confident I can pull the swap off with the help of HybridZ members. Below are just a few of the pages I have gathered that you should find useful in your conversion.

At the moment I plan on leaving the engine stock. The 95 LT1 is rated at 285HP from the factory and on an episode of HorsepowerTV they dyno a stock 95 Camaro and it produced 210 at the wheels. This will be enough for me for a little while…. ;) Very easy to increase this number significantly by the way with some easy mods!
