Guest greimann
You are going to have a seriously difficult time sorting out the electronics on that puppy. Benz links all of their computers logically to one another. Until they all agree, the car won't start, run or go into gear. And the anti-theft devices - I shudder to think of the problems getting that to work. The new models have something like 14 computers on board. You may want to stop, take a deep breath and think about this one for a bit. Why not sell that Benz motor and buy / build a SERIOUS Chevy? katman
Ah, but it is a beautiful piece of engineering. All alumunum block, 4 valve, yee hah. Of course, if you ever need a valve job break out yer wallet...
Guest Anonymous
I would give RENNtech a call in Florida, they are big into modding Mercedes, and might tell you a bit about the electronics, or defeat them on a computer for you, as they are big into reprogramming/defeating circutry too. Won't be cheap tho...
ziceman
Benz V12, I talked to one of my racing buddies last night and he is building a tube frame sports car, the powerplant is the BMW V12, he is using the SDS EFI setup and has built custom headers, adapter for a transaxle setup (he is going mid engine) and dry sump (reduces centre of gravity). He has CNC machine and will turn out the adapter parts required. We were talking about a 240Z conversion (the engine is only 18" wide (60'V) and would fit in Z engine bay easily. The problems are oil pan with front sump and what to use for a transmission. He has fired up one of the engines and says it sounds awsome! Guest Anonymous
Ahh, what a candidate for a Ferrari body kit, even have the sweet 12 sound (well it'll be sweet either way obviously) of tetonic splendor. What did they put behind them originally? 5 sp auto? Regards, Lone
