Guest Anonymous
SCCA/all: The Ideal-Z fuel rail was actually designed to be a nice, conservative upgrade to stock. That is all. It still accomodates the cold start injector and stock pressure regulator. I am using it now but will be upgrading my rail to a more custom piece as well. Go to Arizone Speed & Marine for fuel rail stock. It is the best I have seen yet. http://www.azspeed-marine.com/ They also sell weld-in bungs for o-ring injectors. MSD also makes a full line of fuel rail components. I have not yet ordered any of their stuff, though. Craig
Guest scca
the ideal rail looks nice- IF i had not gone for the SDS i may have gone that way but since i went with the F system with coilpaks i "need" a custom look rail Mike
Guest scca
Craig, if i didnt upgrade to sds i'd use your rail.. yes the ariz, custom one is what i'm looking for! Mike
Mikelly
Yea, the Arizona Speed and Marine Stock looks perfect. When I swap my Victor Jr. over to FI, I'll be getting their injector bungs and rail stock. Nice stuff at a very nice price. Gee, now if I could only fall into some injectors, find and air door and pick a computer/ software package... I'd be most of the way there! My plan for next year is to pull the motor over next winter (2001) and go through the rings and bearings, have the lower end balanced, and then swap her over to FI... By then I should be done with everything else and I should know exaclty what I need! I'll be acquiring parts as I go! Guest Anonymous
SCCA: No offense taken. I was just informing everyone of my goal with the rail. My fabricator for stainless has flaked out on me for the time being anyway. I just sold my last rail in stock So, I am having to look for someone who will work with stainless, in limited quantity, for a cheap price. Any takers This low demand work is pretty tough. I plan on using the AS&M stock for my rail. I have been told that you can just drill the rail out to the correct diameter instead of using the injector bungs. That is worth a look-see. Tim Zwicky also said that he used o-ring injectors on his car and drilled out the stock L6 intake to accept them. Perhaps we can get by without using any of those expe$ive fittings! MSD has a nice assortment of injection stuff. I just keep mentioning that because I have their full catalog. I can post it on my site for download if anyone wants it MSD also offers injectors with o-rings on both ends in sets of 8. They are pretty well priced at jobber pricing. 8 would be nice because then you have spares. Let me know if you guys want to see the catalog. Heck, I might even be able to do a group purchase if folks are interested. I know I will probably order some stuff from them! Many of their injectors are stock replacement and they offer several flow rates. Craig
Guest scca
see what else is out there for stock, i havent found out yet but $12 foot seems pricey?? anyone have Kinslers catalog? TWM i mailed to see what they want for their 3' piece of rail stock. also another place in Michigan.. maybe we can get a deal on 20' or so.. Guest Anonymous
Try Pantera Specialists at www.lola332.com I don't like their rail stock too much but to each his own. I ordered the Kinsler catalog but it didn't have much in the way of raw components. It mostly showed GM and Ford setups. I am sure they have something, though. The MSD catalog also has stainless tubing for use with some fittings that they offer. It doesn't look as nice as a solid rail, though. I put the MSD and Accel FI catalog pages up in the "download" section at http://www.ideal-z.com. Everything is PDF. I haven't found any better rail stock than the AS&M rail but there is probably something out there. Craig
Guest scca
look at http://www.force-efi.com/machefi.htm nice intake but $$$ had no idea it was that pricey to do a multiport FI for a V8. oh.. and theyll sellme their stock for $10 ft. ------------------ Mike mike@fonebooth.com http://www.fonebooth.com/brakes.html raceparts and brake upgrades. Guest Anonymous
$10 is a good price. That is the same stock as AS&M, right? I would actually prefer a smooth look versus the fins but it is OK. The blocked side of the rail is VERY desirable as it is hard to work with the round surface of tubing. Anyone every tried to use the 240SX pressure regulator? It is very small and fits at the end of the rail. The small profile makes it desirable for me. What pressure does the 240SX work at? Anyone know? Mikelly
That's actually not a bad price when you consider what you get. Add up the price of the rail stock, injectors, getting the Bungs welded into the intake, finding the appropriate TB, all wiring and harness, computer and software, and all sensors... Not to bad at all. Guest scca
Mike- i was thinkin of your car when i saw it... you mentioned FI later in life.. that intake with a SDS or TEC and that would be ideal! Mike
Guest scca
mike did that include a computer?? and wiring harness?
Mikelly
Sure did... Not a bad price at all... Even gave you a choice between the HALTEC and the ACCELL DFI unit! Total price customized for your application was $2795, but I'm waiting on a price quote from them. Mikelly
...As long as I'm not spending it on some whore, my soon to be wife is happy as a clam! No bill collectors rining the phone and we always have what we need when we need it, she wants for nothing, and my money is my money! Life is good. However, I'll be shopping that price and if I can get this stuff over time, All the better! I really need to search for this stuff used and hopefully cut that price in half! BLKMGK
I've looked at that site a good bit. I just wish they were using something like a FelPro setup rather than DFI. Wonder if it's the newer sequential DFI or the batch? Since they say sequential is "also available" I think I know the answer - bummer. Mike, Electromotive just up the street from me can do the same conversion I believe. They also sell rail stock, throttle bodies, sensors, and oh yeah - EFI setups. If I can work a deal with them I may run one of their complete setups, some of my friends know those guys so I could get lucky. Next Winter...
