Guest zfan
Anyone out there running a victor jr. manifold on their small block chevy? If so what are your likes and dislikes re: Low end,mid and high end. Im currently running an air gap rpm and have been told by a few friends if I want the sbc to really run to go with the victor. I have been less than pleased with the cars performance. Its a 355, stock short block with rpm cam, heads, air gap, 750 edlebrock carb, all msd and sanderson 1 5/8's shorties. Guest Anonymous
well stock short block....what compression are you running...and are you running auto or manual tranny...as far as the manifold swap....you will loose some bottom end and gain alot of top end.....when i had my 283 in a z car i switched from a torker II to a stealth intake....i gained a little on the bottom and lost alot on the top....hope this helped out some
BLKMGK
I've got one. It's not really tuned right but I can tell you that if this is poor low end performance I don't care It pulls just fine from a stop IMO. I'll know more about it's driveability when it's better tuned, hopefully tonight for a trip tomorrow, and will try to report back then. For a car as light as the Z I'm no sure that the low end grunt is as big a worry.
Modern Motorsports Ltd
Victor Jr. rocks. Great intake for a V8 Z or ZX. I ran mine on my 350 pre EFI and as usual it could shred from idle at 750rpm out thru 1st gear no trouble. Did that with a milder 327 and weiand action plus as well. I still run the VJ with my EFI (proflo). I can't see a Z setup with a built V8 of any sort really feeling short on the low end in the first couple gears. And in 3rd gear + for power I'm not waiting for low rpms anyhow. Zfan, have you rejetted that carb much? Plugs look great? How long have you run the rpm's and have they see much higher rev's for short or long duration? My springs were shot on mine after a year, might want to pull a couple (or one at least) and have it tested, easy enough to do. Do your header flanges match the exhaust ports?? Most headers I've seen on the hybridz are a roundport and rpm's are a squareport header.
z ya
Sounds like somthing other than the manifold. Air gaps kick ass. You might see 5 to 10 hp on a sbc if you keep the revs under 6500.
