  1. About how much higher is the engine mounted vs the JTR? You can also run a mechanical fuel pump as well correct?
  2. Im planning on doing this for sure on my LQ4. Thanks for the great idea! Ron
  3. Anyone ever see if these headers will fit??
  4. Thanks Rusty! This is Ron I emailed ya a few days ago. Sweet car!
  5. I may end up not doing the sbc and going with a 5.0/T-5 combo. With the engine cradle style mounts... will the mech fuel pump clear everything?? Steering shaft?? I searched but could not fine anything. Thanks!
  6. Damn I did not know you were into Datsuns as well as Camaros! This is 6D9 from Lat G. After looking at your Camaro on Lat G I was totally hooked on its style and wished my "pretty boy" styled 69 was more hardcore looking like your car. So I picked up a project 240Z and planned a blacked out/ZG look liked your Camaro. Going to be a Streetfighter!
  7. Thanks guys for the info. Well I think for pure ease and budget Im going to keep what I have for now. Its a Summit 140GPH electric pump. Its a bit loud but Im sure if I run it with a return it will be quieter than the deadhead set up my dad was using. Most liely with a have the stock 240 tank sumped as well.
  8. Thanks Tony! Is the 280z gas tank/fuel pump a direct swap in the 240?
  9. Oh ok...so use a 280z fuel pump?? Im guessing the tank as well. The aeromotive fpr looks like it wont work. The low pressure spring is for 3-25 and high pressure from 25-65 or something.
  10. What stock efi pump?? An intank or external?? I have an Summit 140GPH pump here from my dad's old v8 280. But his was dead headed. Thing is I already have a nice Carter 172 mech pump with the nice filter and proper length pump to carb -8 line. Sure would be nice to have no noise and the reliability of a mech pump.
  11. I know you cant run the the mech fuel pump with the JTR mounts but has anyone fabbed any mounts with the V8 that will allow it?? This is with still keeping the motor set back like the JTR not Hooker mounts. I really cant stand the sound of the damn electrics and have a a nice Carter 172 pump at home.
  12. Way cool set up! I love it. May have to get that part # on that Muffler one of these days! If possible could you pm me your email address as to o would like to try and model mine somewhat to your car. Killer set up!
  13. I think the 1 3/4 may pick your combo up a bit but not much. They didn't on my 408 in my Camaro. Are you running 2.5" or 3" exhaust? X pipe H pipe or regular? Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the reply zfan! Sounds like a sick set up for sure. Mine for sure will be more budget but should still run well. Longtubes or shorts? 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 headers? 2.5 or 3" exhaust?
  15. I wish I could do some AFR's on this motor but most likley going to have to work with what I have right now. My old 408 sbc in my Camaro had AFR 195's and the current motor a 491 BBC has AFR 315's. Here are some flow numbers from what I found. A little weak on lo lift but pretty dang good from .500 on up... .100....I/E......68/55 .200.............127/99 .300.............182/132 .400.............232/159 .500.............269/184 .600.............290/191 .700.............301/201 Zfan1 whats your total combo?? Motor/trans/converter/etc...Thanks!
  16. The rods are 5.7. If I can score a good trade for some 195 cc AFR/Trick Flows then that would be ideal. If not I will use what I have. The 220 Proactions flow some really nice numbers.
  17. Getting ready to pick up a budget 388 sbc for my new project 72 240Z. Should move the car pretty well. The parts for the shortblock are not changing but may do some horse trading for some different heads(aluminum). Basic specs: 388 sbc...late model 1 pc roller block....060 overbore Eagle cast steel crank Scat 4340 I beam rods..arp bolts Summit hyper pistons....9.7 to 1 comp ratio Comp XR294HR or XR288HR Pro-action iron 220 heads angle plug Performer rpm/rpm air gap or vic jr intake Holley HP Street 750 street DP 1 5/8 bock huggers 2.5" duals exhaust..x pipe
  18. I agree!!! Cant stand the sunroof at all. When its bodywork time its going bye-bye...lol.
  19. Well its great to be back!! I sold my 70 355 powered 240Z back in 2003 I think. Sold it to build a 69 Camaro that I still own and love. But....I could just not let go of wanting another 240Z. I just flat love them...lol. So a few weeks ago I was at some local airport drag races and ran into a sweet hybridz. It was Dan's toy on the board. Got to check his car out and watch him punish some cars. After that I decided I have to get another one soon. The deal breaker was the little lady was not thrilled about me having a second hotrod. So it had to be dirt cheap and the whole build on a serious budget. Well I ended up finding a 72 240Z all stock but kinda ruff. The price ended up being $400 so I cant ***** to much. Plans originally were for a LS swap but the details and overall cost is just to much for the budget for this car car. So looks like its going to be a sbc. Between me and all my buddies(parts) I can put one together and running for next to nothing. The plans for the car is a tough streetfighter type build. Homebrew paint/body work/drivetrain...everything! My Camaro ended up being so nice I dont want to beat on it. This car I want to not worry about it. Plan to run autocross/drags strip/street. Just a fun low budget ride. Here is a quick pic of the new 240!
  20. Oh damn didnt think 17x11's would fit! Is that with 315/35/17's?? I would love to do some Nitto 315/35/17's 555R's since they run a bit narrow like a 295 or so. I want to use your car as a template for my build. Just flat LOVE the look. Great job man. Hope you dont mind some PM's later when I get going!
  21. Looking for a 70-74 roller in the norcal/reno area. Looking for a budget starter car....what ya got???
  22. Man I am in love with your car!!! What are the specs on your wheels/tires?? Coilovers?? Are you running the regular or wide ZG flairs?? Thanks!!
  23. Cyrus, Naw you were not rude..it was nice meeting you as well. I agree with mas280...looks like the lowend torque is killin ya. What kind of 60 foot times are you pulling with both combo's?? Looks like its time for some 235/60/15's BFG dr's so you can leave the line with a little more rpm and boost.
