Jason81NA,82RBtt
My friend and I have been tring to get his turbo car to start running better, It has been running very very rich. There are only two things that seem to be left and they are... the ECU is bad or I'm getting false air from some where, and at this rate it must a lot. I'm pretty sure that SleeperZ would not sell a known bad ECU so I leaning toward the false air idea.So I was thinking it would be a lot easier and cleaner(looking) to just remove most of the emissions crap off the intake. So what can be removed without any major side effects. Thanks Jason PS. I will try the ECU on "my" good running stock 82ZXT.
SleeperZ
Jason - I was having your same problem with the ECU, but I switched to the 300ZX one and still had a problem with it that I traced to bad plug wires. If you are totally sure your plug wires, cap and rotor are good, it must be the ECU, and I will refund your money. I was sure the ECU was good once I found the bad wire I had, but it sounds like I was wrong. I can't imagine what in the ECU would go bad to cause this problem; I just assumed if ECUs go bad, they just stop working. Let me know what you think is fair. Jason81NA,82RBtt
I tested the ECU on my stock car and it ran even bettter than with "it's" stock ECU So that leaves only one thing "false air". It think that the EGR valve is stucking open a little or broken some how. Thanks for offering my money back, though.
scottyMIz
Hey jason you have two turbo cars?If not the turbo ecu won't work in a n/a car.But i'm sure you know that. What i did when i got my ic on i used starting fluid and sprayed it around to try and find a leak.If you keep it running and rev it up and spray around it should slow down the engien if you find it.I tried it on my car and was spraying too close to the air fliter and it was sucking it in and caused it to slow the engine down.Is the AFM good? That was another problem with mine when i got it running.Hey sleeper the ecu in mine got wet and i think that's what caused it to do what it was doing. In my other z the 82 the alternator was over charging and it fried the ecu but on the 82 it killed it all together.Hope you figure it out. Jason81NA,82RBtt
Hello every one, I have finally got the car running very good. It will smoke my 79zx . I have two NA's (79,81) and one Turbo(82). The car that was having the problems was my friend Patrick's, it is a "NA to Turbo" swap, he also has a 78z. My other friend James has a 260z and three 300zxT's.James' brother has a 80zx. It turned out the problem was the AFM and a few bad grounds, the main bad ground was the one inside, near the ECU that one seems to be the ground for the TPS.Because if those wires aren't hooked up you can't get the TPS to light a testlight.
