CruxGNZ
I need to get spring rates for my coilovers, so I have to figure out how much I will be adding to the front end of my Z compared to a stock Z. From what I gathered, the Buick V-6 with the turbo and trans. weighs around 560 lbs., give or take a few. What I haven't been able to find is how much the engine and trans weighs from a stock Z. Anyone know? Scottie, maybe you could help me out. What rates are you running? My car will see 80% street, 20% track (raod course/1320). I will have a full interior and a hefty stereo in the rear. In the future, I will put air conditioning in, but I don't know yet if I should go ahead and buy a higher rate spring just because I am going to add more weight down the road. Any help would be great. !M!

Scottie-GNZ
I believe the L6 is about 420lbs, then add the flywheel, clutch, about 75lbs for the trans and that should make them about even. However, keep in mind that entire Buick engine will be behind the front wheels. I have uprated front springs but do not remember the rate. My rear spring is 160# but I lean towards 1320. Having adj shocks allow me to go full soft at the strip and medium on the street. If you are 80/20 then go for the 80% but keep in mind that stiff springs are not good for drag racing especially if you have a lot of power and sticky tires. Wheelhop!!
