Guest Anonymous
Hey Guys. I just got a great deal on a 98 3.8L camaro engine with 4l60E auto tranny, ecm, etc. for $400!!! Anyway, if anybody has any advice or experience on this engine swap, or knows of any good websites, I'd appreciate it. I've never done any kind of swap besides L6 engines. I'm putting it in my 71 240z. rob@frontrangeenterprises.com
Mike C
Cool. I think the 3.8 is an awesome swap motor for a Z. Be careful as the '98 may have the drive-by-wire throttle control which may make life more difficult. You could probably adapt the Camaro pedal assembly if it does, but converting to a '97 throttle cable would be easier. Might have to change throttle bodies. Too bad you couldn't have got a 5 speed with it!
Guest jdllaugh
I looked long and hard at a 3800 Series II for my '72 Z. Great engine. 200 hp stock with the potential to make lots more with fairly simple mods. Here's a Guy that claims 219 rwhp in his V6 Camaro. I compute that to about 260+ at the flywheel. That would be sweet in a 2400 lb. Zcar. Here are some other links of interest: http://www.firebirdv6.com/ http://www.projecttransam.com/ http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/ Good luck with your swap!
