Newbie needs info about '81 280ZXT

I am going to look at a '81 280ZXT this weekend with 87000 mi. The car appears to be in good shape with no visible rust. It isn't inspected and is not registered any longer. It is run every once in awhile around the block. It has only been driven a few hundred miles in the last 3 years. Seller is asking $1900 for it. Is this a good price for such a vehicle? I also wanted to know, can you modify the turbo enginge with the auto, or will it not be able to handle the extra power. Will I have to do a rebuild or is it ok to modify an engine with this kind of mileage? I would like to have stick, but I figured auto is easier to drive at the strip for a rookie. What are the main trouble spots I should be looking for? Thanks for all the help.

Sounds like a good price if it hasn't got any rust. Check very carefully underneath the body, especially where the seats and the firewall meet along the frame rails (I think the ZX has these like the Z). The auto tranny is very tough, I wouldn't worry about it with a more powerful engine. The engine is barely getting broken in with 87,000 miles -- I'm running a stock bottom end with 170k, no problems. Good luck and enjoy.
