v8dats
i dont have a pic but maybe someone can help. it was a 240z that had over 400hp at the wheels.does he/she have a site? was it the twin turboz?
Lockjaw
If it is an inline with two turbos, that is James. Don't remember what his displayed name is though, but is does have 240z in it. Look at the thread further down on intercooler temps, he has a post there.

scottyMIz
i dunno about a web page and he's never taken it to the track. But he has taken me for a ride last year and man does it fly... it's the fastest thing i have ever ridden in, and a total sleeper you'd never think it's that fast by just looking at it untill he opens his hood.I have some pics of his car from the nissan show very clean and nice. Lockjaw
I think that is his low boost set-up too. I know this, he has twin mitsu 16g's on it, and a tech II with a seriously built engine. Must have a very understanding wife is all I have to say.
Lockjaw
Originally posted by v8dats:hey lockjaw... you're running 12s!!?. thats great. whats your setup? how much boost? Nothing special. Stock engine with forged 1mm oversized pistons. JWT ecu upgrade, 420cc injectors, cobra MAF, T3/T04b hybrid with an H3 compressor wheel and stage III turbine, HKS intercooler, and 3 inch exhaust. Boost was about 22 psi with some 110 leaded mixed in with super unleaded 93 octane. Ran that pass on a really hot day spinning the crap out of my drag ta's. Turbo is coming off this week and probably going up to Forced Performance for some work. I hear noise and have oil smoke I used to not have, so if it is not the turbo, then the engine is next. I have some DSM buddies that swear by Forced Performance, and since they are building the turbo's for Sean Glazer and all those pro drag guys, I figure they know what they are doing. I will likely stick a stock engine in there and rebuild mine and go out to 89 mm bore. That should get me close to 180 CID. Who knows what after that. v8dats
what is the JWT upgrade?? i see it alot and dont know what it is.it seems like the hybrid and the t60 turbos are the better swaps
scottyMIz
tim has a t60 turbo on his car and it's huge he was running 25 psi when i rode in it and it pinned my head to the seat i couldn't even turn it straight when i wanted to look forward again.I love his car it's so nice. I hit high 12's with the stock turbo so you should get alot better when you hook.I can't wait till this weekend i plan to make a few passes with my new turbo at 10 psi then turn it up to 20 and make a few passes.I'll post the results

They mod the ecu, wiring up the MAF is easy, and the only real pain in the neck in the whole thing is getting to the fuel pump relay under the dash of the ZX. Took me a couple of hours to do the whole thing. There are resistors that have to go inline with the injectors, and two of the injectors have to be swapped around, which I did at the ecu. The wiring harness for the turbo zx is the same as the 300 basically. I like the set-up. It adjusts to mods to the engine pretty well, makes plenty of power, and the drivability is way better than the stock set-up ever dreamed of being. It is a little pricey though, but you get stock reliablity. It performs pretty well though, and I am sure I have more to gain by doing other things to the car, like larger intercooler plumbing, a mild cam upgrade etc. My engine is not ported or anything radical, the only real performance item in the engine itself are the pistons. I will likely ugrade to a stand alone, although I may just upgrade to larger injectors and have them re-chip the ecu. Lot of options out there. The TecII is a really nice upgrade, and so is the SDS with the coil packs.
v8dats
man that sounds like alot of fabbing.i think it would be easier to go with the sds with the coil packs.cant upgrade now due to funds but its good info. btw just got back from driving my z.man i love this car!! the car is a 260 with stock turbo engine. has more boost and need to identify turbo.will pull it off!! 240Z Turbo
He has a fully built race motor with 7.4:1 compression. He runs a T64 turbo (o-trim .69 a/r). Monster GT wastegate and 70lb injectors. He runs 24psi on pumpgas(94octane) and generates those numbers. I suspect with race gas/boost/timing changes that thing might make 490hp@wheels. HEHE, I am going on a trip to Detroit this week and will visit Tim on Friday/saturday. Can't wait to ride in, I mean drive his car!
v8dats
hey 240z.youre in florida.are there any clubs here in florida? whats your z running at the track?
Lockjaw
There is no more fabbing for the JWT setup than there will be with the SDS. It is really a lot easier than it sounds, and it took me longer to get to the freakin wire under the dash for the fuel pump relay than it did to do the rest of the conversion. Don't get me wrong, the stand alone's are really nice, but you can make nice power with the JWT set-up too. Alot of Nissan's out there run the JWT stuff, so it works. James can hook you up on tuning a tecII since he is in FLA and runs one on his car. He has a twin turbo set-up on his inline, so it should be pretty wicked once he gets it all set up. He runs the auto conquest tranny too, which is a nice mod.
TimZ
Thanks for the kind words, guys... Sorry I've had a lot of 'stuff' going on lately, and haven't had much presence here for a while. James pretty much nailed the details on my setup. Those dyno runs were the high boost settings, as James stated (don't want to start any urban legends ). I did do some low boost runs earlier in the year last year - I only made about 280-290rwhp on ~9lbs of boost (95degF ambient temps in the dyno cell that day, BTW). The T-series really seem to like running at higher boost pressures. The car did get a makeover last winter - I've just been getting it back together. Still white, no more 'parking lot strips' on the sides, and street flares and bigger tires. 255/40-17s in the front and 275/40-17s in the rear. Traction seems much better, now. I'll try to get some pics taken soon.
