Guest szlash280z
I am working on a turbo conversion for my 78 280z. I have a manual trannied car, I have a turbo motor and harness from an 83ZXT car with an auto tranny. I have traced the wires for some of the plugs that I couldn't tell what they went to. there are lots of wires for the inhibitor switch and or relay, the A/C and the speed sensor. my 78 doesn't have the speed sensor hookup like the 83, if I leave those speed sensor wires unconnected will it make a difference? My 78 has but doesn't use the inhibitor system. I have removed my 78's inhibitor relay and the car runs normal without it (I guess they put it in there for all the models regardless of tranny) would I need to do anything with the 83's inhibitor wiring due to the fact it is from an auto? I removed the inhibitor relay from the 78 to make room for the electric fan relay. I guess the A/C stuff is for the control of the AAC valve, which I am not going to use, so I plan to leave that unconnected as well. would there be any problems with that? Also, the knock sensor is broken, will the motor run without it? thanks
Lockjaw
Man, lets see. Really the only things that need to be connected to the harness are the ignitor for the coil, head temp sensor, afm, distributor, ecu,TPS, and injectors. The IAC is good to connect, but you don't have to have it connected. You will also have to do a little work with the pig tail that goes over towards the battery, but I am pretty sure that just involves setting up the relay to work, and connecting power for the set-up. You can leave the detonation sensor disconnected, but you need to be careful playing with the boost and timing. Yeah it is not state of the art, but it does help some. Guest Shiin
Tony Fruzza posted a great piece on wiring. It's a start to what you need. L28et efi on L24 240z
