yo2001
I just got through putting my car back together. I took my car apart due to a hissing sound. I thought my exhaust manifold blew the gasket but appearantly not because it's making the exact same noise. (that was before I hooked up the ignition.) Well, what else can it be? It's a regular tempo hiss, sounds just like the blown exhaust gasket. I didn't see no crack or hole on the manifold. I did find a small crank inside of the turbine housing but I don't think that would cause that. Help.
Cody 82 ZXT
I think most turbine housings have small cracks. Atleast all the ones that I have and have seen do. No biggie. Can you determine where the sound is coming from? Try using some flamable fluid (starting fluid-WD-40)to spray around to see if the engine idle changes when sprayed in a certain area. yo2001
Ok, the spray trick work on th eexhaust manifold? I'm pretty sure that's where the sound is from since I'm still getting good vacuum on the intake side. Thanks man
1FASTKINGCAB
Perhaps not best for your car here, but there is my idea; While you are looking under the hood for the leak, ave someone plug the exhaust for a couple seconds at a time. maybe the hiss will get louder. PS. did you remeber all the gaskets whn you put it back together?
yo2001
I got all new gaskets. But I do think I put the manifold to turbo gasket inside out
