Guest ultra_Z
i got all the turbo stuff on and got it running and i took it for a ride and when it sarted to build some decent boost it blew oil out of the dipstick tube on to the windshield any idea's why it would do that
yo2001
Did you check your PCV valve? You are getting positive crank pressure under boost.
Guest ultra_Z
i whent ahead and diconected the pcv hose and drove it and it didnt blow out the dipstick but it did blow some oil out the pcv hose
yo2001
The motor new or used? Have you ran the compression on it? If your rings are not holding boost, it'll pressurized the crankcase.
Guest ultra_Z
the motor has about 130,000 i did a compresion test about ten months ago and it read 160 across the board maybe i should check it again
yo2001
160 sounds high for a turbo motor. what's your compression?
Guest ultra_Z
actually its a stock 77 na l28it runs really good and pulls hard under boost with no pinging just that oil problem
yo2001
OK, I'm running out of ideas but I would pop a new PCV, make sure the valve cover hole is connected. You could have a blown head gasket. My oil line is pressurizing on mine with #5 blown and leaking oil from my oil filter relocator.
DAW
Make sure the turbo PCV is not a different part # than the n/a. DAW
Z-Gad
Sounds like you are getting blow-by. Run or have someone run a leak-down test on it to see whether it is coming from the top or bottom end. If it is coming from the top, you'll feel air passing out of the oil cap or breather location in the valve cover. If it is coming out of the bottom end, you will feel air coming from the crankcase vent tube. In my case, it was coming from the bottom end and I had shattered ring lands on 2 pistons ... good luck mike
Guest ultra_Z
thanks for your help guy's i think it is coming from the bottom because it is blowing oil out the vent tube it is also starting to smoke pritty bad when the boost comes on so i think it's time for a new motor and a turbo rebuild luckily a good friend of mine has a fresh motor he built for another friend who wrecked his z about 5000 miles later oh well it was worth a try
