Guest TAlchemist
well i got the basic wiring working mostly in my 280z. my question is shouldnt the fuel pump turn on when the ignition is turned to on? how loud should it be or what ever. my car doesnt do anything. could the fuel pump be rusted? a full tank was left in the car 6+ years ago. if it is rusted could me dismantling it and applying penetrating lube make it run again? this worked on my starter. SleeperZ
When the ignition is turned to "on", the pump should run for a few seconds, then shut down until you crank it. The pump could be frozen, but check the wiring first. I wouldn't try to free a frozen fuel pump, just spend the $15 or so and get one from a junkyard. Guest Anonymous
Check the wiring connections .Run a hot jumper wire to it and see if it works. Also dis-connect the fuel line to see if it is pumping. Some of those Z pumps are very quiet. If nothing for else take it out to just see what it looks like in the inside. Hell, you might get it working before heading to the junkyard. Guest TAlchemist
thanks maybe i can try to direct connect to battery tomorow and if that dont work i may try spraying some penetrating oil into the input and output lines to loosen it.... thanks
Guest TAlchemist
well when dirrectly connected to the battery it pumps so nicely. that means it must be the wiring... it goes through the ecu and into the relay according to the haynes manual....i need to know if the ecu even works or the relay is there a way to test?
