while driveing the tach seems to jump to redline real quick(not the engine just the tach). it seems to do it most when its cold and it only does it once or twice. im wondering what sends the tach its signal or if there is something else that may be the problem. could it be the ignition module or pick-up coil, computer im not really sure but if anyone has had this problem and can point me in the right direction it would really be helpfull.

My car does the same thing. Never have figured out why. It may be the battery does not have a good charge at first? What kind of tach are you running? Im running a Mallory pro tach with setting and warning lights/built in limiter.

im also running all MSD and I have found they are very finicky!

this is a stock tach on a 83 280zx. as far as msd goes i havent had any luck with them on my mr2t, but i know they make a good product. the mr2's seem to have the injectors fire off the same trigger as the ignition and there has to be a tach adapter (pn 8910). it just doesnt seem to work. sci,6a both died after a couple of weeks, i also didnt really feel a performance gain. per the butt dyno. but i do plan on going with msd with the stand alone ems (hopefully in a couple of years).
