My rear turn singnals stopped working, but the one's in the front still work. If i'm driving durring the day, and I signal the front come on but the rear does nothing. If I drive with the light's on, still the same thing...untill i step on the brake, then depending on which way I am signaling that brake light will go out. I've followed every wire, and read over the wireing diagram 20 times and I still can't find the problem! Any tip's would be a big help. bonk.gif

Look for a disconnected or loose ground. Also look for corrosion in the bulb socket that would prevent a good ground circuit. This type of strange behavior is typical of a bad ground somewhere in the system.

The EXACT same thing happened to me on my '79. Hand signals are not fun, unless you're really bored. Okay here's what I did..

Initially the fronts worked also, but then went out after like 2 weeks. I figured it had to be the blinker unit, so I ordered a new one through the Nissan dealer, like $30. Well it came and I swapped them, no go :(

So now I knew it was a ground/short somewhere. I first disconnected all of the harnesses, cleaned them out and stuff. Oh and this can't go without mentioning, I didn't replace a taillight gasket that had a small rip, I just resealed it, well when I disconnected all this stuff I found about an inch of water back there, and in the spare tire well eek2.gifcry2.gif

Well luckily it had only been there about a week, no damage. I believe that was causing my ground short. So check all your wires back there, just disconnect it and put it all back together clean and it aughta work like it did for me cheers.gif

good luck..

ps.. signals get kinda misused and taken for granted, I remember sweating out every turn because the cops are nitpicky in my town. I was overjoyed to have them back!
