Guest Anonymous
since you didn't give us a model year... Kragen and Autozone will test the alternator/charging system for FREE. You might also need a voltage regulator if equiped.

Guest Anonymous
a 78 280Z has a voltage regulator.it's most likely the source of your problem.it's located on the back of the black bracket on the passenger side next to the strut tower

randy 77zt
i have a 77.for some reason nissan wired the red led in volt meter to a relay under the seat that hooks up to something else-i dont remember.i remeber ripping out extra stuff when installing 81zxt drivetrain/ecm.any way i converted to internal regulator 85 amp turbo alternator.you just have to extend 2 wires from regulator plug to the new alt.when i do this stuff i never document it-i should.1 wire runs the led in volt meter and 1 is a key + for field .
