Questions about a newly resurected 280

I finally got my car running after 1.5 years of owning it (who knows how long it sat arround before that). Had a quick question or two about it now that it moves under it's own power.

1. Does anyone else hear their gas (in the tank, not your intestines) slosh aroung when they stop. I figure it's fairly normal since I am sitting about two feet from it. I thought the tanks were supposed to have baffles in them to reduce this.

2. I have an automatic transmision that shifts realy hard. It's a definate thud and a jerk when changing gears. The fellow who did some work on my car said this was a good thing for a sports car.

Should i be concerned about either of these things? Right now, I'm just happy to be able to drive my Z.

An auto that shifts hard is defintely a plus in a sports car, but only if it is on purpose. Meaning, if the tranny was rebuilt or designed to shift hard, then great. But if it's shifting hard because something has gone afoul (is this a word?) then not so great. Usually, though, when autos start going bad, they slip.

Check your tranny fluid (like Len said) and maybe change it with the best stuff you can find. Check the board archives here for recommendations.

Also, you should do several other things if not done already. Since you don't know how long the engine has been sitting, you should check and/or replace all fluids. New gas is a good start. New oil is a must.

Good luck and congrats on getting it back on the road.
