Supercharged V8

Has anyone in this forum run a supercharged V8 (small block chevy for me) that has any advice on it? Heres my plan.

-Base engine is 350 H.O. crate from GM, cast everything, 330HP

-Edelbrock alum intake (RPM air gap), Demon 750, vortec heads

-No accessories but alternator

-Carburetor enclosure (any opinions on carb hat, ala this one http://www.knfilters.com/Racing/plenum.htm that this crazy mopar guy used http://www.networksplus.net/landofoz/twinturbo/ )

-Vortech gear driven V-1, S-Trim

-Either bash in my strut tower or a reverse flow unit and try (probably unsuccessfully) to fabricate a sturdy mount

-I've got cast aluminum pistons, so boost will be limited. A similar setup http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/79738/index.html had a chevy crate with hyper pistons running comfortably on 7 lbs, although it had extensive head modifications.

-Perhaps water injection set to run above 5lbs for some paranoid comfort. I just recently became a fan of this.

-Have to move from a T-5 to a T-56

Ideas? Comments? Criticism? Anecdotes? Off-topic pinko propaganda?

-David

been done a few times, cmon now.

best setup ive ever seen was a scarab with a 355 8.5-1cr , with a blower atop with two sidedraft webber carbs, all polished and it fit under a stock hood, he ran 11.1s all day long on drag radials with a clutched up 700r4

his son had a jag with a 383 that was running 12.9 all day on street tires.

With cast everything, I dont take it that is a strong engine, so you'd be severely limited on boost use. However I'm sure a mild 450#/HP setup might last awhile on an engine like that, maybe even 500HP/TQ, maybe.

I still dont like carbs, I'd rather go EFI, but if you are comfotrable with carbs then maybe that is the direction you should take.
