Owen
Hey Ivan, I got your message. I didn't use the E6K on an L28 so there's not much info I can give you... Tell me what part of the diagram you are referring to in the Haltech manual, I think the clusters were divided up into J1, J2, etc. Owen
Guest jt240z
Have you scrapped the idea of using the MSD 6A as your igniter? As I told you on the phone, you need to use the IGN Out (Light Green wire) from the 6 wire ignition harness. You can use the GND wire (Black) from the 6 wire harness to provide the ground to the igniter or run it directly from the chassis ground. All the other wires in the ignition harness (Aux Out, Dig Out2, Dig Out1 and INJ 1) are not used in a single coil application. These are used for waste spark mode. You will also need to supply +13V to the + side of the coil. This should come from the original source for +13V to the coil. If the coil requires a ballast resistor and you don't have one in line, then you must provide that between the +13 and the coil. Most systems provide for a ballast bypass during cranking. If you weren't using the MSD as the driver, then you would use a single channel dummy igniter P/N M&W1 (uses the Haltech to control dwell internally) or a smart igniter P/N EB023 (controls dwell externally in the igniter) to fire the coil. The Haltech IGN Out can not fire the coil directly. It must use a "driver" to switch the ground to the coil. The only area I couldn't help you with was how the MSD 6A worked into the system since I've never used one. I know it can be connected and used, but the input signal may have to be inverted in the software in order to fire it correctly. On page 142 of the manual it explains the Ignition Output options. Additional information can be had by asking (email or phone) Haltech Australia or subscribing to the Haltech Yahoo Groups support group and asking there. You can subscribe by sending an email to: HaltechSupport-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and ask to subscribe. The groups link on Yahoo is at: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/HaltechSupport/ Don't use the Haltech Support Group off the Haltech web site. It sucks and no one uses it. I'm sure that there is someone on the Yahoo support list that has used the MSD 6A in conjunction with the E6K on a single coil setup. Don't try to crank the engine with the coil attached until you understand the software setup for the ignition. If you setup the software for the wrong ignition type, you can damage the igniter, coil or ECU. Have you tried to get the Haltech on line yet? I hope this help.
