LT1 wiring harness questions...Please help!

Recommended Posts

Ok I am trying to figure out what some the "extra" wires that Darius cut off and not label for me. I have figured out was most of them are but I dont know what some of this stuff is?

What is this? The Orange wire is for B+(this has to be hooked up to something though cause its just hanging on the harness not connected to anything, the only reason I know its B+ is because it splices in with a B+ wire), the green wire goes to the computer for Fuel Pump Relay Driver, Black is Ground wire, and the brown just goes off to nothing(but it does splice in with the other connector I have shown)

Here's the other one. If I had the engine here at home I could see where it goes but I don't so I need your guys help here! There are 2 wires going in to it...one Orange (B+ wire) and one Brown (spliced in with the brown wire from the top component that I dont know what it is) and there used to be a white wire connected to it but it was cut off all the way flush with the connector so I dont think it was ever used.

I just talked to Darius and he said he had the fuel pump wired up seperate from the harness but there might have been some extra wire that he didn't use(like the fuel pump stuff/ and that it might have been a brown wire) So maybe, just maybe that brown wire is for the fuel pump???

I also found out from Darius that he was running the 96 coil set up. So that answers that question.

Thanks for the help guys!

Second connector goes to the back left head (drv side), it sends oil pressure to your guage, it has only one wire correct?

First one I can't ID, maybe if I could see the connectors, but it may be an O2 harness peice near the trans tunnel, hard to say.

No the second connector has 2 wires one orange and one brown. It did have a third wire but it was cut off. Now that you say oil pressure sender that makes sense. It is connected to that "fuel pump relay"(if thats what it is) because the computer needs to see oil pressure before it starts the car or keeps the pump on at all. That way you dont burn up your engine if your oil pressure drops too low!

That first picture is not a connecto but it kinda looks like a relay? I am going to look up that oil pressure sender on Alldata right now and if thats what it is then that first one has to be the fuel pump relay, right?

Thanks

Yup Mudge thats what it was(second pic)!!! You know your F-Bodies! :D I would have spent all night looking for that connector. When you said oil pressure sender though it clicked! That other one must be the fuel pump relay? I'm going to call Street & Performance tommorow and ask them.

I am so happy I figured this out! Saved me like $450! Why do they charge so much for these harnesses? Bastards! LOL

Thanks a lot Mudge!

Ok I have one more question...

I have 2 wires left...one is a red wire( this goes no where on either end but it looks like it was connnected to something before) and a brown wire that is heat shrunk in the same part of the harness(only these 2 are together) and this one goes to the TCC(automatic tranny) pin(B2)on the Red ECM connector. Now I know Darius had a T56 in his car so what would this be in the harness for?

Thanks

Maybe he bought an automatic trans LT1 and bought the T56 seperately? There may not be alot of difference between the two harnesses to save GM money, but I really dont know.

I do know that A4 cars who swap to M6 will get codes without the A4 present until they flash to an M6 setup, but the car will still run.
