Guest zfan
I have a sbc 355 with Edelbrock rpm 64 cc heads and am thinking about purchasing new heads. From what I have heard the rpm's are real dogs, only 170cc runners(small). I have 2 cam choices to got to depending on what heads I may go with. I am currently running a Comp cams hyd. roller with 224/230-502/510 with 110 ls. I also have a Comp cam hyd. roller 238/244-520/540 with 110 ls sitting in my garage. I have thought seriously about a set of heads in the 190 to 200 cc size. Has anyone run any one head that is by far superior to the rest of the run of the mill heads. I always hear about afr's or canfields. What about victor jr's. Also are the vortech's better than the edelbrock rpm's? Thanks, Mike
z ya
zfan, I think your heads are fine man. Just get your combo dialed in. Get the A/F ratio to around 13.5 to 1 at WOT throttle and your #'s will pick up. Also I would go with an CSI water pump and a CSI 1"or 1.5" carb spacer. With all of those things I think you could pick up an easy 25 o 30 rwhp! Then if thats not enough pull a small 75 to 100 shot on it and its a real terror! Plus from what it sounded like you have yet to get any traction with those 2.1 60 foot times. Pick up some 235/60/15 BFG drag radials and air them down to about 18 psi or so. You should see some easy 1.8's or lower. I think you have a pretty sweet combo just tweek it a bit!!
Guest Anonymous
you asked about afr heads . well , i have a pair on my 280z. 195cc intake port 2.02 and i think the exhaust is 1.6. 750 double pumper, air gap rpm manifold, comp cam hyd roller 236 242 510 540 i can't remember right now the lobe center, 3000 stall, 3.90 gear,225 50r 16 nitto drag radials. with me in the car weight is about 3150 lbs. i have turned a best time of 11.56@118 mph and in the 1.6's for my 60' times. the car being heavier in the rear than 240z , the car on the strip hooks up pretty good.my problem now is i am starting to break u-joints. considering c/v shafts. maybe later checking into full length headers. and a dual exhaust. i am costantly wanting to upgrade. mark
