I need a part# for stroker turbo pistons, JE or?

I do some work for a shop that can get JE pistons at dealer prices. If anyone has a PN for their pistons, let me know. Or, what info do I need to have on hand to order the proper pistons. I want a 87mm or 87.5mm bore. I have 9mm L24 rods and a LD28 crank. Do I need to tell THEM the pin height, or will they have that information.

When you order pistons from JE or just about anyone you have to have them send you a build sheet the you have to fill in all the info for ordering. Good luck.

My pistons should be almost exactly what you are looking for. You may want to go a little higher on the compression though. These were built at 7.6:1 before I was enlightened.... I have late 133mm L24 rods with a Maxima L28D crank and an 87.5mm bore. This should net out to 3.0 liters. I think you are wise to keep thick cylinder walls if you are going to boost your engine.

JE Piston p/n 168155

Bore 3.445 or 87.5mm

Stroke 3.268

Invdome depth .125

Comp dist 1.290

Comp Ratio 7.6 to 1

Top Ring 1.5mm

2nd Ring 1.5mm

Oil ring 4.0mm

Pin Dia .827

Pin length 2.5

Spiro locks used

Piston weight 366 Grams

Nissan OEM L28ET headgasket used with the following specs:

1.25mm height, 88mm cyl dia, 7.6CC per cyl

P90 Cylinder head with 53.6 cc chambers

If you want to specify the CR for your application, then this is not enough information. That piston may have been built for 7.6:1 for your application, but this is completely dependent on the dimensions of the comustion chamber that you are using.

The number that is missing above is the volume (usually given in cc's) of the inverted dome on the piston. The "invdome depth" number almost gets you there but it still does not give you the actual volume since you don't know the geometry of the dome.

You can specify the CR to the manufacturer, but you must then also supply the volume of the combustion chamber and the volume added by the head gasket (along with bore and stroke, of course).

What C/R is your motor and who made your pistons? Thanks.

It's 7.5:1. My old pistons were Arias. I just went to a stroker crank and the new pistons were made by Diamond. It's not up and running yet, though.

TimZ, I don't feel so bad now that I see your compression is nearly the same as mine. Everyone seems to think I should have gone with 8 or 8.5:1. Oh well..... I guess I'll just turn up the boost. :D

For sheer power, being able to turn up the boost is much more effective than a 1 point increase in CR. You'll make that difference up in the first additional psi of boost.

I agree 100% with Tim's shear power statement but since I will be using the car on the street and will not be doing things nearly as radical as he has done with custom everything :D , I think if I increase the base CR to 8.5 it will increase torque down low and lag from a bigger turbo won't be as annoying. Been there, no fun. Besides, am I the only one who doesn't have the turbo spooled all the time? I didn't think I was that old!
