utvolman99
Okay, I am still having problems selecting a cam for my build up. I am choosing between a xe268 and xe274 for my street build up. Vic JR intake Iron Eagle 215, 2.05/1.60 small cc heads 700R4 W/stock converter 3.73 R200 650 Holley vac secondary I have also contacted Dart for their suggestion on block hugger headers. I would really like to go with stock flat top pistons. That would probably leave me with the xe274. Do you think I would have a detonation problem with this setup? What do you think the street performance difference would be between the xe274 with flat tops and the xe268 with a 12cc dish? Also, when looking on darts home page they list my spring setup 1.437 as being for solid lifters? Does this matter. I was under the impression that they are just the higher lift springs. Do I have to switch gears and start looking for a solid lift cam? Thanks again for your help!
Guest gbvol54
Vol Fan, Sounds like spring training is going good. Hope that d-line firms up... I'm sure The grumpmaster will respond shortly but from what I've read the Victor series is for high RPM hp while your cam selection may be a bit mild for that use. I'm considering those same cams with a set of Vortec heads with 10-1 static CR, but with a E-brock Performer RPM intake. With a Victor series you might want a bit more lift. But what do I know. I thought the Vols would make the NCAA's easy....... Wait for Grumpy's input.
utvolman99
Well, if there is one thing you can count of Fulmer doing its shaping up the lines! I think they will be fine upfront! If you are interested in really great Tennessee information you need to try www.tennessee.rivals.com. Its really slow right now but next week things will be jumping again! As for the Victor Jr. grumpy had suggested using the Super Victor if it would fit and if not to go with the victor. I think the idea is that the car is so light you really dont need a dual plane intake! Also something you may be interested in I have a Hot Rod Magizine Nov 99 that outlines a build up with Vortec heads. They started with a junk yard 350 with a new timing chain oil pump, tune up and carb kit. Stage one 90 350 TPI heads Summit cam kit 214/224 dur 442/465 lift Weiand dual plane intake this produced 299 hp @ 5000 RPM and 368 lbft @ 3500 RPM Stage two Xetreme energy cam kit 224/230 dur 470/480 lift 319 hp @ 5300 RPM and 380 lbft @ 3900 RPM Stage three Vortec heads Performer intake 375 hp @ 5700 RPM 395 lbft @ 4300 RPM Stage four Super Victor intake Demon Carb 395 hp @ 5700 RPM 400 lbft @ 4800 RPM The Super Victor had a really flat torque curve. It actually had more torque than the performer from 3600 RPM on up. I kown the Demon had a lot to do with it but I still dont think the tall single plane hurt it. With the bigger cams we are thinking of using I think it would sing!!
grumpyvette
utvolman99 the super victor intake in that lite weight car will have more that enought torque in the low rpm range and quite a bit more hp/tq in the 4000rpm and up rpm range.I have found a big advantage in useing that intake in a combo like your building.
