280z-racer Posted April 10, 2003 Share Posted April 10, 2003 i tried search with no luck--can you use a non-turbo z31 trans in a 280z if you switch the bell housing with the original 4 speed?? also can you use the 280 clutch or 300 clutch?? j260z Posted April 12, 2003 Share Posted April 12, 2003 i have asked this question on another forum also because the 300zx trannys were a different Borg Warner T5. the answer was no. the only problem is i deleted that email and can't remember all the reasons why. i know that it does have a different bell housing and i think that i has a different input shaft. i know it was a good reason otherwise i would have already done the swap as i had a line on an 86 300zx turbo T5 for $90.
