Guest plutovitch
Hi guys, I have had my 260 in pieces for almost 2 years now and its time to put in all back together. Seeing the l26 has been sitting on tyres in the workshop for that long what should I be doing to it before the reinstall. Have bought new gasket set, anything else? Tim240z
Hi guys' date=' I have had my 260 in pieces for almost 2 years now and its time to put in all back together. [/quote'] Throw it(L26) on ebay and get a V8!! Just kidding. Off the top of my head: Change the gaskets and rubber seals. Drain the oil and prime the oil pump (after putting in new oil) Might need to pull teh carbs apart to see if they've varnished up. Drain the fuel from the tank and replace. Replace belts and hoses Spray a bit of WD40 into the bores to loosen the rings Don't forget diff and tranny oil. Then fire it up and see what happens Tim
Lockjaw
I like to turn my engine over for about 10 to 15 seconds before letting it start, just to make sure oil is everywhere. Other then that, everything Tim said sounds good to me.
Guest plutovitch
Ta thanks guys, not as bad as I thought it would be.Already stripped/boiled out fuel tank, carbies were rebuilt just before demolition commenced, so rubber & gaskets & oil etc and take a bit of care when first starting. Went through all the boxes of bits & pieces today making a list of hoses, replacement clamps etc. Hope to get the car back at the end of May Then the fun starts!
