Guest ZmeFly
i have an 83 280ZXT and was looking to get some more juice out of a different alternator. i was thinking of the late 80'searly 90's maxima alternator, the 90 amp one. does anyone know if this swap works or if not is there one that does work that will give more power to my charging system without rediculous modification. thanks for any help advice. wigenOut-S30
I just picked up a pathfinder one from a junkyard. I had it tested and it put out 115amp . I think it is like the later maximas. It was a 4x4. I am going to be installing it soon. I am sure I will have to swop pullys and maybe shim it a bit. Good luck.
yo2001
Just about any Nissan Alt will fit, you need the new style alt connector from 300zx or something and alter the pulley to V groove with a proper thrust bearing and you can make one work. I got a 95 Maxima alt, rated at 125amp. O, if you got teh external voltage regulator, you would need to convert it to internal.
Scottie-GNZ
For those of you have who converted to a GM alt or considering it, here is an option for you. Mike (Misred - the GN-powered RX7 and owner of turbobuicks.com) is selling a 200-amp replacement for the alt used on the 86-87 Turbo Regals and Pontiac TTAs. He also sell an upgrade kit. I do not know enough about this to answer any questions, but if it interests you, go to http://www.turbobuicks.com and go to the Store. Once you read that, then you can forward any questions to mike@turbobuicks.com
