innerware
Hey there Z fans. Am I not driving correctly or do I need a clutch adjustment or new clutch? Mostly when starting in first gear if I don't have the clutch way out I will get chatter. Best way to describe it. There is no slipping in any gears when driving and I have no problem getting it into any gear. It is just that I have to have the clutch almost not even in at all. Very little transition between clutch and gas. The peddal barely depressed in if you know what I mean. Is this normal or a misadjustment for the 78Z. I think it has been this way since I got it. I have driven stick shifts for 13 years now and haven't had this happen. I'm hoping it is a small fix. For now it drives me to and from work I just have to remember to not clutch as much. Thanks for any help as always. Z's rule Kyle
Lockjaw
YOu can adjust the rod on the clutch pedal to change that, but I can't remember the direction and relationship to clutch engagement. I think shortening the rod puts clutch pickup closer to the floor, and lengthening it puts it further, but I can't remember exactly. Some trial and error should get you the right direction. Get ready to stand on your head.
Tim240z
Yeah, turn the adjusting rod so that it tightens into the pedal, thereby shortening the rod. from what you describe, you will need about 5 full turns. Tim
