JB_BA
Well I'm 3 and 0 since I put on the racing stripe. Maybe it added some hp to the old n/a 280zx? lol I raced a Grand Cherokee (auto) with the 4.0L in-line 6...got him by a few car lengths. Then I raced an Acura (Manual) Integra...an older model I'm guessing, as I just totally blew him off the road. Had to be the 1.8L. I tried bragging over at zcar...but they just picked on a typo I made, so I brought my bragging over this way. I like racing the ricers that put on their mufflers and think they've turned into a drag racing machine. The Acura had some nice 17's on it...lol...and a muffler...and I'm sure he enjoyed the tail light display I gave him. 8) Haha, until next time (or until I find some silly kid in a Civic with euro tails...) Guest zfan
Just be careful out there. Sounds like fun! Mike
JB_BA
We keep it safe. We wait until later in the evening, and have people on both ends watching for cars. i'm not big on racing like that though. I've talked most of them into coming to import day at the 1/8th mile strip with me. Once they do...I'm sure they'll be hooked to. See ya. Phantom
What year is your ZX? What a lot of people don't know is that the late model ZX's had an improved head design that moved the torque curve from 166@4,500 to 163@3,000. With the torque coming on that lower down the NA L28 became a much more potent street racer. I have embarrassed more than a few ricers in my '83Zx because of that low end torque. They'd get me in the quarter, but not in the eigth!
JB_BA
Yeah, it's an '83, and yes, that's where I always get them, right off the line. They always say the car looks like it stands up and jumps about 20 feet in front of them before they even start rolling. It's like a free car length or so right off the line. By then, in the 1/8th, that's alot of catching up... the zx won't be mine anymore this weekend...but an sbc 350 240z will...:) Horray! Finally getting a Hybrid Z. Phantom
Know the feeling. It's a toss-up at this point but I'll be getting my LS1/T56 280Z either this weekend or next. I'm keeping the '83ZX for a while as a back-up / weather car but the '77 will turn into my daily driver.
