Guest chip
My steering column is rubbing against the exhaust manifold. I have a 240Z with a 350 conversion. There is a signifagant grove in the column. Whats the best way to fix this? headers? thanks, Chip
Owen
How is your engine mounted? JTR style? Need more info... I have the 350 block, JTR kit, and block hugger headers. The steering column was rubbing against the engine mount so I ground a small portion of it off (off the engine mount) and not it's ok. Guest chip
I bought the car with the 350 already in it but I think it is the JTR conversion. The engine is way back in the engine compartment. I will try and take some pictures of it tomorrow so you can see what I am talking about.
Tim240z
Either a set of block hugger headers (it sounds like your engine has the oem casr iron manifolds), or cut the steering shaft, put in another universal joint and a bearing. Headers likely easier, but it will also mean adapting your existing exhaust system. Tim
Guest chip
I was planning on headers down the road anyway. I have a friend who has done many 350 conversions on karman Gia's and bugs, he has to use the extra universal joint on his gia's. He is the one who noticed the rubbing on my car. All this is new to me but i'm learning. thanks for the advice. Chip
