GM's Global V6

I can't wait either. I smell another swap idea coming on. The turbo one seems like it may be fun, especially with 370HP. May be a high powered sedan like the CTS V or something along those lines. I can't wait. The new v8 is going to be awesome too. If you look at the V16 from Cadillac, they are basically going to chop it in half to make the new Vette and XLR (can't remember if that's the name) motor.

XLR is northstar isnt it? And of course corvette has LT series... hard to say. Engine does sound nice though, Let see if GM can stop giving chevy all the good cars and start sharing the wealth. I mean wtf did pontiac do to deserve the asstek? Its nasty looking!

Chevy - corvette

Oldsmobile - not going to exist much longer...

Buick - bland autos. but getting better

Pontiac - lose the fins on the door panels and stop making plasticy cars.

etc...

At the moment the new XLR contains a hotter Northstar motor in a RWD configuration. The Northstar motor will only remaim, IMO, until the C6 and all the bugs are worked out of the new V8.

Pontiac is getting more of the goods than Chevy. They've been getting supercharged V6's for the last few years. Only now, is the Impala getting one. Don't forget the new LS1 GTO. That car is going to be trick IMO.

Corvettes either have the LS-1 or LS-6. They haven't had an LT motor since 1996. :)

I find this interesting that GM is about to unveil (perhaps it already has)the all aluminum DOHC V6. It's a 60 degree block that can easily expand from 2.8Liters to 3.8L while making 200 to 370 HP. They say that this is the first example of an extended family that will eventually include direct fire ignition' date=' "twin-turbos" with adaption to an arry of platform; FWD/RWD. Sound like this has potential for swapping!!

Sounds like GM is finally seeing the light!! As long as the V-6s are made with steel parts, not hyper-crap or powder metal crap, they should be a real winner. DOHC.......mmmmmmmm.......DOHC. ERIC. :-D

Pontiac and buick both got the m-90 supercharger with the 3.8 v6.

it is a super quiet, kick-butt setup. My pop's 98 riviera with 240 hp, and 280ft/lbs can spank the crap out of a large percentage of the vehicles on the road.

it only weighs 3700 lbs....

i like to cruise around in it and find riced out cars... I let them take off first and get a car length or two.. then i just roll into the throttle nice and easy... by the time i hit the top of 3rd they are usually history...(5+ car lengths and fading..)

the thing is a boat though.. handling is... uninspired.

eh.. buck is cool...
