Guest Zachb55
Ok, im painting my car yellow, and im going to have ZG flares ( ive never seen this done, i hope it isnt cause it looks goofy, tell me if you think it would) and im going to have black fender welting (basically a black rubber seal) between the fenders and the flares, my question to you is "do you think i should paint the bolts holding the flares on the same color as car (yellow) or black (which a lot of other parts like the drip rail and door window frames will be, because i blacked out all of the chrome i could) well give me your opinion on my plans, everything that is going to be painted is only in primer right now, and to tell you the truth im not too sure on what color to go with (im also liking blue with maybe black and yellow on the inside) im not sure guys, you help me out with your opinion on whether if you saw it go by and you'd say "ugghh yellow ZG Flares?" or "wow nice yellow flares!!!" -Zach
denny411
I would do the bolts in stainless with the flares the same color as the car and use the black welt.
Dan Juday
I think Fly Yellow is gorgeous on a Z. Check out strotter's car, nice. As far as the ZG flares, I think a dark gray would be a nice contrast to the yellow. Something along the lines of black chrome or the color of black pearls. Whatever you chose paint the bolts the same color as the flares. You don't want to be known as the guy with the polka dot car.
j260z
i agree with Dan. Ferrari Fly Yellow and a grey along the same lines as carbon fibre would look very cool!!!
Guest ON3GO
ya dont make the flares a bright color... it just doesnt look right.... a dark gray or black would be nice. mike
DavyZ
I'll add a contrasting opinion: ZG flares painted the same color of the car ALSO look good. Since you are doing the fender welt and not painting it too (anyone like painted fender welt???), then perhaps you might go with a contrasting color. I personally think that ZG's body color (bolts, everything) looks pretty good too. The reason I say this is that I see other cars with "bolt on flares" which look good in all body color. The reason the Z looks good with either is that the flares are small enough to 'accent' the lines of the car without totally changing them, even when painted grey or black. The new, yellow Nissan trucks with the grey fenders look pretty good--use that as a gauge. Davy
Guest Zachb55
hmmm, yeah i was liking the idea of painting all of my chrome (soon to be some other color) parts a dark greyish, maybe gunmetal? maybe a bit darker... the only thing i find a little off with going that route is i dont want the flares to make my car look like a damn bee! thanks for the tips, ferrari fly yellow eh? ill see if they have a book with that in it down at the paint shop, hope it isnt too much. -Zach

j260z
i'm not a big fan of the gnose but those look great with the black flares. i have a 2002 yellow nissan frontier with the yellow flairs, which remind me of the zg flairs, that looks great also. Guest zline
no prob Zach, another color that'd offset the yellow quite well would be a really dark graphite color...for example, R32 Gunmetal
