Guest southern5cowboy
yea, i ahve been thinking about droping in a v8 into my z. i was thinking that chevy would be cheaper, but I have a v8 in a 86ranger(compact) and a f-150 and love the ford small block. I was thinking a crate engine form summit a 302 that pumps out 345 hp with a 65mm throttle body. I think thats a nice engine and put a T5. that would be a kick ass engine. What Type of ignition system would you suggest, i have a mallory that i spent a lot for but was worth it. Shorty hedders? What would the best manifold be, an edlebrock or ford motorsports? I was also thinking a supercharger. Would the supercharger fit? if then thats about 450 or more hosepower, would the rear hold, would i have to strenghten the frame, sub frame, f so where at? My buddy was able to get 514hp with a supercharger but would that be over kill for a z? The 70-78z had rough hp of 200 right? so another 150hp would really be nice, right? just wondering about the possibilities. I would like to make everything as eazy as possible and take my time, 3years to build this z up and have huge power but the stock look. Guest shane280z
Hi. My problems are short term memory loss... this happens with old age. And I forget which intake yoou are planing to go with but I will say that a Ford 302 is an excellent engine to build into a 70-78 Z car. In fact, currently I've got a 'Boss' 302 and 4speed tranny that I am selling for $350.oo in need of a overhaul. If you'd be interested in a carbed 302 then this would be a great builder. I'm in Colorado and my email is ShaneFanon@Hotmail.Com should you be interested. This fall of '03 if no one has offered cash or trade for this 302 then its going to be my 3rd V-8 project car into a early Z. Happy Trails. shane-
Guest southern5cowboy
thanks for the offer but thats a hike and a half form jersey. but still im buying all new parts as far as drivetrain. the only thing that is going to be old is the actual metal of the car, im rebuilding everything with all new and keeping the car for as long as possible, never going to sell it. anyway thanks again-
