Guest De Schmaydee
....yep, .....i let the guy at the local turbo-auto store make what he thought would be the best "streetable" turbo that would get me 350hp (it'll go to 400hp)....he milled out the compressor housing for a 57trim,water cooled it,and put a stageIII turbine on the other side....it spools pretty quick and hard (@9-10psi)......just got the i.c. in yesterday (kinda......i think i've got a leak.....only hitting 7-8psi) and not as quick....but seems to have more power @ less boost........still gotta debug a little..... .....s
Lockjaw
That is the pressure drop across your intercooler core, and you have also added more volume to your intake piping, which is why it seems a little slower, and you lost boost.
yo2001
Cool, I was told T04E wheel won't work well in T04B housing. I've heard T04B wheel in a T04E housing. 8)
Guest De Schmaydee
...it seems to.... to me.....of course i'm far from an expert and dont have anything to compare it to except the stock T3....(it doesnt spool "that" fast) but i seem to get more power @ the same psi.....also true w/this intercooler i just put in.....i'm just running off of the spring in my external wastegate (9psi).....and i'm just getting 7psi since the i.c.......but it seems to run more powerfully......at a lower psi.... .........Spork...i agree w/the stageIII thing......but i was also thinking you might really benefit from a bypass too (if you have a 5spd...and dont have a bypass already)......oughtta help w/the shifting thing.....and they really 'sposed to help a lot reducing stress on the turbo too...... .........s
Lockjaw
E or B doesn't matter, they will interchange in either housing. Its just that the published flow maps for the wheels won't be accurate. A BOV should be required on a turbo Z car, but you need to vent it back in front of the turbo if it is running stock EFI or you will get an overly rich condition between shifts.
