Guest Ian turbo240
I recently got my turbo 240 running again. I have a question about the drive shaft for the distributor/oil pump. I know that the '82-'83 shafts are different (splined). Does anyone know if the gear on the crank is also different? The problem is that I can't get enough initial timing advance at idle. Maxxed out I'm only getting about 10 degrees. So, either I stabbed the shaft one tooth off, or the crank gear and shaft are not compatible. I believe that the gear on the crank was from a L24 engine. Help?!?!? Ian
yo2001
The spline gear (I think that's what it's called) same on turbo. Should be just a bolt on.
johnc
Start over and re-index everything from TDC.

Guest Ian turbo240
I finally had time today to figure out the problem with the timing. It turns out that the gear on the crank was on backwards. When installing this gear, the beveled end must go toward the #1 crank pin. I had installed it wrong. Now the timing is correct. Thanks to everyone who replied.
