Yes, the Pontiac 350 will fit the Z car, hell if a 454 fits, just about anything fits.

I don't know what JTR calls for, but then again, I don't use JTR, im using my skills and the help of this forum to do whatever I need...hehe we don't need no stinkin JTR books!

I believe the motormounts might need some measuring but other than that, its a direct fit.

We had a forum before about a guy who wanted to put a 400 in his.

So far I have seen the following engines in Z cars.

1. Small block chevy

2. Big block Chevy

3. 302 Ford (or any other stinking ford engine)

4. Buick GN turbo v-6 (which takes my props for originality

5. Any V-6

6. Any Pontiac engine

7. Some mice chasing cheese on a stick

hehe. go for it!

If you are going with a pontiac 350 then why not run the 400? I feel it is a much better engine and yes they will fit. All the pontiac engines had the same outside dimension so if a 350 fits a 400 428 455 will too. Some guys on this board have done it so run a search for "pontiac" and you might find some good info.

Hey teamcruse racing

Ford engines don't stink but if you are talking about ford cars you then you may have a point. rockon.gif

i am one of the people who are in the process of putting a 400 in a 280z. i would go with the 400 or a 455 over the 350 because they are the same block with differant bore and stroke i think. i would say get a good 400 block and use that and even get a 455 crank and have it milled down to 3 in bearings. then you will have a 455 that is better than the factory 455. i am trying to find some plans for the mounts that someone else made and when i get them i will give them to you. if you have any questions just ask.

The 455 crank has to be cut .250 to fit the 400 block, then the 400 block has to be bored .030 with new pistons. Even if you had a 400 engine, it would be cheaper to go get a 455 to start with. Make sure your 350 pontiac is in fact a Pontiac. GM switched a lot of motors around and put about any motor into any car.

i have the 69 400 that was rated at 265hp. it was a 2bbl so i plan on making some changes. the member rickeybell has done this and i have e-mailed him about mount design but i have had no answer. as for the 400 w/455 crank being better is that it doesnt get as hot or something as the 455. that is not the right answer most likly though because i just remember someone telling me to do this but i changed my mind. the 455 is cheaper to do than 400 w/455 crank. i would say stick with the 400 because you all ready have it. check out this site www.pontiacwarriors.com then go to engine dynos on the left and that will give you an idea just how much you can get out of a 400. if i can help in any way i will. rebuilds on pontiacs are not as cheap as a cevy are though. i can have a short block machined and assembled for $1000 so they are not cheap but you will make a ton of ft/lbs :D .
