ToplessZ
I was wondering if there was any way to cram a five inch speedo and tach into the datsun dash?
Tim240z
You don't have to 'cram' it, that is the correct size. Actually, it's a hair too small. Pics of mine on my site. Tim
ToplessZ
Ok guys I missed something I thought I read 3 and 3/4 or something like that. Thanks
Tim240z
2 5/8" gauges for the smaller center pod gauges. Tim
Phantom
What do you do for the two gauges that get lost when converting over to Autometer? I know one could go into the clock hole but what about the other. With two of the Datsun gauges being split gauges, including the clock there are five gauges in three holes. So, after the clock, which gauge do you go without - or where do you move it to? I seriously considered all new gauges when starting my project because of the problems with the tachometer and speedometer/odometer. After a while it just got to be too much of a mental exercise so I stayed with all the stock Datsun and have made them work.
baddriver
If it was up to me, I'd keep the water temp, fuel and oil guage, and go without the amp/volt meter. Loosing your alternator isn't quite the disaster that overheating or loosing oil pressure would be. A volt warning light would be easy to install. I would nominate the seat-belt warning light be used. While I was at it, I would add an oil pressure warning light and buzzer, because you really want to know right away if you loose oil pressure. In fact, the oil pressure guage in my opinion is less useful than an idiot light. The chances of you noticing the guage has dropped in time to save your bearings are probably nill. Still, I know a lot of people like the feedback. Oh yeah, What are you going to do for turn signal indicators if you change your speedo?
