Evan Purple240zt Posted May 27, 2003 Share Posted May 27, 2003 Guys, my EGT is not working. Is there any way to test the probe itself, the gauge seems to be working. When i touch the terminals the indicator moves up and down. Its an HKS egt. If i need a replacement, do i have to get an hks one, or will any egt probe work?? SleeperZ Posted May 27, 2003 Share Posted May 27, 2003 As far as I know all the EGT probes are the same - type K thermocouples. There aren't any others in use that can take the temperature of the exhaust. Try measuring the resistance of the probe with an ohm-meter - if it is open, the probe is bad for sure - typically the weld at the tip fails.
